Ho'omaluhia Botanical Gardens

Windward side, lovely, wild - the Ho'omaluhia Botanical Gardens are a great place to picnic, hike, visit the lake and see some water fowl, or practice some botanical photography (you can do better than the postcards with just your phone camera here). Be sure to stop by the Visitor's Center and say 'hi' to the staff on the way in - they will tell you about the Saturday and Sunday morning catch-and-release fishing (gates open at 9:00, no matter what the website says) and the morning children's programs (currently third Tuesdays each month). My little one is always excited to visit the 'jungle' as she likes to call the more wild trails, and it is a lovely place to meet up with friends. Learn about special events at all the gardens here.
